چکیده

Non-wetting super-hydrophobic or super-lyophobic surfaces are of great interest in a variety of applications. Natural water repelling surfaces show micro-/nanocombined hierarchical structure which shows extremely low wettability and self-cleaning characteristics. Inspired by such natural wonders, there have been tremendous efforts to create artificial non-wetting super-hydrophobic or super-lyophobic surfaces. In this paper, recent progress in artificial super-hydrophobic surfaces based on hierarchical micro-/nanodual-scale structure is reviewed. In addition, application of hierarchical micro-/nanodual-scale structure as super-lyophobic surfaces against gallium-based liquid metal alloy is also reviewed.

Selective on site separation and detection of molecules in diluted solutions with super-hydrophobic clusters of plasmonic nanoparticles.

Super-hydrophobic surfaces are bio-inspired interfaces with a superficial texture that, in its most common evolution, is formed by a periodic lattice of silicon micro-pillars. Similar surfaces reveal superior properties compared to conventional flat surfaces, including very low friction coefficients. In this work, we modified meso-porous silicon micro-pillars to incorporate networks of metal na...

Condensation and Wetting Behavior on Surfaces With Micro-Structures: Super-Hydrophobic and Super-Hydrophilic

Recently it has become possible to achieve radical manipulation of surface wettability, and wettability is known to play a key role in the retention of condensate and frost melt on heat exchanger surfaces. In this paper we present a review of methods to produce such surfaces, and we describe a super-hydrophobic surface, with a contact angle of 148°, created in our lab. We describe surfaces with...

Bioinspired super-antiwetting interfaces with special liquid-solid adhesion.

Super-antiwetting interfaces, such as superhydrophobic and superamphiphobic surfaces in air and superoleophobic interfaces in water, with special liquid-solid adhesion have recently attracted worldwide attention. Through tuning surface microstructures and compositions to achieve certain solid/liquid contact modes, we can effectively control the liquid-solid adhesion in a super-antiwetting state...

Maximizing the giant liquid slip on superhydrophobic microstructures by nanostructuring their sidewalls.

In an effort to maximize the liquid slip on superhydrophobic surfaces, we investigate the role of the nanoscale roughness on microscale structures by developing well-defined micro-nano hierarchical structures. The nonwetting stability and slip length on the dual-scale micro-nano structures are measured and compared with those on single-scale micro-smooth structures. A force balance between a li...
